Friends

My thought for the day, in honor of a new friend who actually met the Dalai Lama recently.

We should be active in reaching out for new friends and not wait for people to knock on our door.  If not, we are missing opportunities to meet someone who we can serve, who may be a delight for a moment, who may need a smile to make their day, or someone who might turn out to be a lifelong friend.

Likewise, we should not let a day pass in which we are not productive or thoughtful in some way.  We grow in this way, and serve humankind.  It hurts me to look back and see empty days.

Please enjoy the Dalai Lama's thought.

Take care.

Old friends pass away, new friends appear.  It is just like the days.  An old one passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - - or a meaningful day.  Dalai Lama
